Happy Happy Kids

We came home to Birmingham this weekend. The kids got their pictures made on Saturday. I will post a link when I get one. :) They got to visit with Paw Paw & My Sherry on Saturday evening. Chris & I took Jake to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs on Saturday night. Sunday we went to the McWane Center as a family. The kids got to visit with Mimi & Big Daddy on Sunday evening. When Sarah got home I noticed that she felt a little warm, but didn't think much of it. She woke up Sunday in the middle of the night with a fever! It is now Wednesday and she still has it! Nasal congestion too. It is pitiful! She just cries and cries. The doctor says that it is just viral. Monday we drove back to Fairhope, but stopped by to visit Granma & Grandpa on the way to I65. I stayed home with Sarah yesterday as she was just too sick for me to leave her. Chris mom stayed home with her today. Poor little thing! Prayers for Sarah please!!

My 30th Birthday!

As promised, details about my 30th birthday. I already mentioned that we spent the weekend before my birthday at the beach. The kids came back to Birmingham with Chris on Sunday. I drove to Birmingham on Monday after working part of the day. We went to dinner with my Dad & Sherry Monday night. I spent the night at our house in Birmingham on Monday night and when I woke up Tuesday morning there were flamingoes all over the yard!! They were everywhere! In the trees, the bushes, everywhere! Funny Dad- you got me! Just wait I think someone is going to be 60 in the near future... I drove to Prattville for training on Tuesday. When I got there, they had streamers and balloons all over the place. They even had me a cupcake cake. I don't even know these people!! It was so nice!! All in all I would say it was a pretty good birthday.

Busy Week!!

Well, hello everyone!!! The Dean family had a very busy week this week!! First of all, we began last weekend with a trip to the beach with Mimi, Big Daddy, Emily, & Blane for my 30th birthday!!! (There will be a separate post on the topic of my birthday.) I had to travel to Prattville for work this week so, the kiddos went home with Daddy after the beach. While they were in Birmingham, they got to visit with Paw Paw, My Sherry, Mimi, Big Daddy, Grandmama and Grandpapa. As Jake says, he and Sarah went on "baycation." I also got to see my Jack Henry peeps on Monday- it was great! Miss & love you guys very much!! We traveled back to South Alabama as a family on Thursday evening. We have a family wedding tomorrow! We are so busy!!

Wow! Time flies! We have been in South Alabama for two weeks as of yesterday! I cannot believe it! We are all doing well- adjusting to our new schedules. Sarah has learned to sit up in the past few weeks. She would MUCH rather be on her belly though so that she can scoot around. Jake loves his new school. His teacher is starting her 13th year of teaching and there are 17 of them in his class!! They have already taken a field trip to the Fire Station and to get ice cream. I commute 27 miles each way. That may not seem like a lot to you who drive over an hour to get to work in Birmingham, but remember I am used to living 5 miles from work. I really enjoy the drive though. I get to go over the the Mobile Bay every day on my way to work. There also isn't a lot of traffic here- not like Birmingham. We miss Daddy! We get to see him Thursday evenings through Sunday afternoons. We just keep thinking that this is not permanent. Our house will sell eventually and Chris will find a job down here.

On to the Jakeisms- as you know my son is never a loss for words- here are a few things that he has come up with lately:

  • Hey mom look it's Snow White and the Seven Dorks! (pronounced DWORKS)

  • "Pup of smoke" as in he disappeared in a "pup of smoke."

  • After about the 6th time that I asked him to go to bed last night he spied a dollar bill on the nightstand. I told him he could have it IF he would go to bed and not get up again. Well, a few minutes later I hear little feet. I said okay give me the dollar and he said well mom actually it is two dollars. They were folded together- we was bringing me my change! Can you really take the dollar away after that? Nope!

  • "Mom when I grow up I want to be a baker, police man, lemonade maker, and grocery store bag boy"- man will he be busy!!

Oh and BTW- we killed a snake last week- in the garage! Those who know me well know that I almost got in my car and came back to Birmingham! You should hear Jake's rendition of the event- it involves mostly me screaming.
